Dr. Bert Cobb is a medical doctor, not a career politician. During the current economic recession, liberal Jeff Barton and his fellow career politicians on the Hays County Commissioners Court have twice raised taxes on homeowners while padding their own pockets with generous salary increases of more than $8,600. Dr. Cobb learned how to solve problems and balance budgets in the real world. He will bring the trustworthy ethics and straightforward approach of a medical doctor to county government, end the irresponsible Jeff Barton tax increases and selfish pay hikes, and focus on meeting Hays County’s growing needs.
Restore Fiscal Discipline to County Government
While the current economic recession has forced many Hays County families to tighten their belts, Jeff Barton and his fellow career politicians on the commissioners court have continued to raise property taxes and increase county spending. These reckless policies place too heavy a burden on Hays County families and businesses. As county judge, Dr. Cobb will take a stand for fiscal discipline. Drawing on more than thirty years of experience leading hospitals, medical practices, and professional organizations, Dr. Cobb will end government waste and focus our resources on meeting Hays County’s growing needs.
Reinvigorate our Local Economy
Dr. Cobb believes that quality local employment is key to reinvigorating Hays County’s economy. As our county judge, Dr. Cobb will assemble an economic strike force of local officials and business leaders to bring higher paying jobs to Hays County. He will eliminate the oppressive regulations and Jeff Barton tax hikes, which stunt economic growth, and make Hays County a rising star in the economic recovery.
Make our Roads Safer and More Efficient
The time for talking about road improvements is over. Now is the time for action. As a medical leader and public safety advocate, Dr. Cobb believes that safe and efficient roads must be a top priority in county government. By alleviating congested roads and creating new traffic corridors, Hays County can avoid a future of crowded and dangerous roadways. As county judge, Dr. Cobb will make Hays County a leader in road safety and efficiency.

As Hays County grows, we must ensure that future growth complements our community rather than detracting from it. In addition to his distinguished career leading growing hospitals and developing emergency services in Hays County, Dr. Cobb is a certified Master Naturalist and Texas Watershed Steward. Dr. Cobb has what it takes to meet the challenges of growth while preserving our community’s natural beauty and quality of life.
