Meet Dr. Bert
Common Sense Conservative for Hays County Judge
Dr. Bert Cobb is not a career politician. He is a respected medical doctor and community leader with real world experience. Dr. Cobb is running for Hays County Judge to end the cycle of reckless tax hikes and waste, and restore responsible leadership to county government.
During the current economic recession, Hays County’s Democrat-controlled commissioners court has twice raised taxes on homeowners while padding their own pockets with generous salary increases. This is irresponsible and Hays County deserves better.
As a former chief of surgery, Dr. Cobb understands that critical times call for strong and selfless leadership. While chief of surgery at Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos, Dr. Cobb was responsible for leading a complex organization, balancing budgets, and solving problems. His forward-thinking leadership helped to develop Central Texas Medical Center into a first-rate hospital.
Over the past thirty years, Dr. Cobb has campaigned tirelessly to modernize medical care in Hays County. He worked hard to help establish EMS in Hays County and map the county for 911 emergency service. He has operated medical practices in Buda and San Marcos and served as president of the Tri-County Medical Society, where he advocated for Hays County doctors and patients in state and local government. His leadership has also included serving as President of the Pan American Allergy Society and Board Examiner for the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.
Dr. Cobb’s community service also includes serving as past President of the Rotary Club of Greater San Marcos and helping to found the Texas High School Rodeo Supporters. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Texas State University. Dr. Cobb is a certified Master Gardener and Master Naturalist, and a certified handgun and personal protection instructor for the National Rifle Association.
Political spin is anathema to Dr. Cobb. With an ethic of public service that is rooted in his distinguished medical career, Dr. Cobb believes that Hays County families deserve a responsible government that is honest and straightforward. As county judge, he will work to end politics as usual in county government and focus on meeting Hays County’s growing needs.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Dr. Cobb is married to Gaye, his high school sweetheart and wife of 44 years. Together they have two children and three grandchildren. The Cobbs reside between San Marcos and Wimberley, and their home water supply comes from a rainwater collection system they personally designed and installed.
